Marmots, Dinners, and Saving the World
The Silver Lake Bowl is happy to present an afternoon, outdoor gathering in an open-air Roman-styled amphitheater overlooking Silver Lake for: Dan Blumstein, world-wide expert on marmots and author of "Eating Your Way to Civility" a dinner party guide.
Saturday, June 01, 2013
7:30 PM - 9:00 PM
2439 Silver Ridge Ave.
Los Angeles, CA 90039
Hosted by Roger Wolfson
The Silver Lake Bowl is honored to present Dan Blumstein, Chair of the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at UCLA, and a Professor in the Institute of the Environment and Sustainability.
Dan is one of the world's experts on Marmots, and through his studies of these animals in the wild, his frustration with the state of environmental education, and his position at UCLA, he developed not just a theory about the need for all of us all to come together to address the major problems we face regardless of our political beliefs - but with innovative ways to do it.
Fresh off his book tour and his recurring Ted Talks, Dan will share his fascinating personal story, one that begins deep in the wilderness, and ends at the dinner table, breaking the ice with those who have different opinions than his, by breaking bread.
For a sneak peak, catch his recent (7 minute) Ted Talk on "The Sound of Fear."

This is a free event, but please register for your ticket so that we can send you directions and parking instructions, and updates if necessary. In case of bad weather, the screening will move indoors at the same location.
(A word about the unfortunately thorough registration system for these invites: there is no need to fill out all the information the form asks of you accurately! Write anything you'd like in the blanks, just make sure your email address is correct so you can receive directions, updates, or rainchecks)
