About the Speaker

Kristen is currently a Research Scientist and lecturer at UC Santa Cruz and a Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Tropical Research at UCLA. She is broadly interested in understanding the mechanisms that generate and maintain species diversity. Her research blends conservation genomics with fieldwork, taking advantage of technology, while remaining grounded in natural history. She works across multiple levels of biological organization from genes, to populations, to communities in order to achieve a synthetic understanding of basic and applied ecological and evolutionary questions.
